Rojava

Rojava is the kurdish name for the north eastern parts of Syria that are currently de facto under kurdish control. See Wikipedia article "Democratic Federation of Northern Syria".

The reason to mention this here is that there has been an extraordinary grassroots democratic revolution there building up new and yet quite stable structures, the implications of which you can read or listen to in the lecture ofDavid Graeber: From Occupy Wall Street to the Revolution in Rojava.
